PIT project to be deployed in 57 provinces in 2012
Update 05/01/2012

FPT IS leaders met with the General Department of Taxation (GDT) and representatives of 63 provincial tax departments at the FPT head office in Hanoi on December 25 to discuss the plan for deploying an electronic tax management system in 2012.

Deputy Director of the GDT IT Applications Department Pham Quang Toan said "After its successful pilot at the taxation departments in Hanoi, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces, the PIT management project will be expanded to 57 more provinces in 2012."

By April 2012, the tax sector expects to convert to the new system and test its performance, then transfer all data, tax registrations and declarations accordingly.

GDT Director Bui Van Nam gave a speech

This is the largest scale project to be implemented in the tax sector and GDT Director Bui Van Nam believes that Vietnam will have the most advanced tax management system in Southeast Asia in the near future.

In November 2007, the Vietnamese Government passed a broad scale Personal Income Tax Law that affected millions of people. For the first time, the Ministry of Finance and General Department of Taxation chose a Vietnamese business, FPT IS, to be the project's general contractor and deploy tax management IT solutions purchased from foreign countries, and customize them for Vietnam. This was a particularly important event for the Vietnamese IT sector at that time, proving that Vietnamese enterprises are capable of doing large scale jobs that were previously, by default, left to foreign enterprises.

Ms. Truong Hai Duong, director of the IT application department of the GDT evaluated the project

The PIT management application created by FPT IS was developed based on SAP solutions, a model that has been effectively implemented for many tax systems around the world.

The report on the project results by Deputy Director Pham Quang Toan stated that as of December 24, 2011, the tax sector had issued more than 17 million PIT codes for salaried individuals, more than 13 million of which were issued between 2009 and 2011.

More than 100 delegates from the GDT, local tax departments and FPT IS contractor attended the meeting to discuss plan for project implementation in 2012

The successful implementation of this project will further the progress of modernizing taxation in Vietnam.

FPT IS Chairman Mr. Do Cao Bao said the project is a "solution to a difficult problem" in Vietnam's international integration and will facilitate reducing import duties while increasing budget revenues. He predicted that in the near future, personal income tax revenue will be about 30-50% of the national budget revenue.

Thanks to FPT IS's experience and the success of its deployment of IT applications for the Vietnmese tax sector, the company will have greater opportunities to deploy IT solutions for tax sectors in other countries in the region and around the world.

After the meeting, more than 100 tax sector representatives visited the TELEHOUSE Tax Data Center in the FPT Cau Giay building and were satisfied with the professional operation of the sector's main data center housed there.
