In the first half of 2010, FPT Information System Joint Stock Company has made many organizational changes, attained a number of outstanding achievements in both business and globalization, and affirmed its pioneering role in systems integration and the software sector. It has also been active in the industry and society.
ORGANIZATION
FPT IS executive authority transferred:
FPT IS Chairman Mr. Do Cao Bao left his concurrent post of CEO and transferred executive authority to the new executive board on March 9, 2010. The new FPT IS executive board includes 5 members: CEO Duong Dung Trieu and Deputy General Directors Le Thanh Trung, Do Son Giang, Phung Viet Thang, and Nguyen Tuan Hung.
Success of the 2010 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders:
On March 18, 2010, FPT IS successfully held its 2010 annual general meeting of shareholders and voted on and approved many important items. According to the meeting’s resolutions, the target revenue of the Company for the year of 2010 is VND 3,450 billion, and the target profit before tax is VND 480 billion.
FPT IS becomes a public company:
FPT IS officially became a public company on June 8, 2010. Accordingly, FPT IS is responsible for announcing information as prescribed by the State Securities Commission. As of June 24, FPT IS had about 800 shareholders after issuing preferred stock to employees.
BUSINESS
Record service contract signed:
On May 20, 2010, FPT IS won a service bid package worth nearly VND 200 billion for a financial organization. The contract broke all FPT IS and national IT service contract records. The bid was for providing specialized equipment and warranty and maintenance services for servers, and the project will be implemented over three years.
First Exadata server provided:
FPT IS provided Exadata server, the leading technology produced by Oracle and Sun, for a joint stock commercial bank in Ho Chi Minh City according to a Data Warehouse contract worth US$3 million signed on May 19, 2010. This is the first Exadata server to be applied in Vietnam.
Biggest ERP contract in national banking industry:
FPT IS and Vietinbank together signed an ERP contract worth nearly US$4.3 million on June 14, 2010. This is the biggest ERP project in Vietnam’s banking sector to date, and the second largest ERP project in Vietnam, after the ERP project being implemented by FPT IS for Petrolimex.
GLOBALIZATION
Representative offices opened in Cambodia and Laos
Two FPT IS representative offices were inaugurated in Laos and Cambodia in May 2010, opening up new business directions in the two markets. FPT IS CEO Mr. Duong Dung Trieu recently went to Laos and discussed IT application issues with the Lao Minister of Finance and proposed a strategic cooperation between the two parties.
AWARDS
FPT IS honored as leader in software and information system integration:
On July 14, 2010, FPT IS won two Vietnam Top 5 ICT 2010 Awards for the best software company and the leading provider of information system integration services. The awards are an annual event sponsored by Ho Chi Minh City Computer Association (HCA).
Best system integration enterprise:
At the 2009 Vietnam ICT Awards held in the Hanoi Opera House on March 20, 2010, FPT IS was honored as the best system integration enterprise. The Vietnam ICT Awards are national awards given out annually by the Ministry of Information and Communications.
IT SECTOR ACTIVITIES
In the first 6 months of 2010, FPT IS participated in many important workshops in the IT sector including Banking Vietnam 2010; Banking Cambodia 2010; Security World 2010; and the One-stop Electronics Conference.
SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
Computers donated to charitable vocational center:
On May 6, 2010, FPT IS representatives donated five computers to the Quynh Hoa Charitable Vocational Center. The center is located in Thanh Oai hamlet, Huu Hoa commune, Thanh Tri district, Hanoi, and fosters and creates jobs for about 50 disabled people, victims of Agent Orange, orphans, and disadvantaged children.
